This book was published to accompany Flavio de Marco: Portrait of a Collection, an intervention at the Estorick Collection in 2008, curated by Roberta Cremoncini, Charlotte Artus and Stuart Evans.

The project focused on early twentieth century Italian painting, taking the visual languages of the Estorick Collection’s artists as potential sources for various pictorial solutions in new works. With these paintings, de Marco began to build a possible ‘alphabet of signs’ in relation to the various constituent parts of landscape – sky, sea, earth, trees - with the ultimate goal of reuniting them. The works were installed alongside the original paintings.

The catalogue includes text by Federico Ferrari.
