Join us for a life drawing class inspired by artist Alexander Archipenko’s deconstruction of the human figure into geometric forms. The class will work through a series of angular poses and drawing exercises focusing on the individual shapes found in the figure.

Join puppet artist Aya Nakamura to explore the art of puppet-making inspired by artist Alexander Archipenko’s figurative works. You will study the geometric shapes from artworks in the exhibition and learn techniques and imaginative processes to reconfigure them into an articulated paper puppet of your own design.

EDUCATION ADULT ART CLASS

Alexander Archipenko pioneered the use of negative space to represent parts of the body in his sculptures. This class will present poses that create interesting negative spaces and drawing exercises that focus on the ‘air space’ surrounding the subject.
