Join us for the second of two walk-in sessions on the work of British poet and painter Mina Loy and her connection to the Italian futurists of the Estorick Collection, organised by Constance Higgins and Tom Greany.

This session stands alone, no prior attendance is required. Taking inspiration from Loy's practice as an avant-garde lamp maker in Paris, this hands-on session cleaves close to Loy's own process as participants build and design their own lamps. All materials will be provided.

The workshop starts at 18.30. Participants are welcome to join or leave at any time after the start.

Constance Higgins is a writer who works as an editorial assistant at Literary Review. Her writing on books and art has appeared in Literary Review, the Times Literary Supplement, the Telegraph, and Prospect Magazine. She is currently a Master’s student at the University of Oxford, where she specialises in English literature from 1900 to the present. Subjects of her recent research projects include Mina Loy, Leonora Carrington, and Djuna Barnes. She is also founder of Oxford’s life drawing society, for which she organised and lead weekly walk-in sessions.

Tom Greany is a student, researcher, and photographer. He has recently completed a research project on the British poet Mina Loy and her time spent with the futurists in Florence. Working from materials at the Estorick Collection and Yale’s Beinecke library, the project explores two unpublished satires, penned in the early 1910s, in relation to the drawings of Ardengo Soffici, much of whose work can be found at the collection. Besides study, Tom has worked as an editorial assistant in humanities and arts publishing at Routledge, interned at the Opera del Duomo museums in Florence, and undertaken funded research at Harvard’s Houghton Library. He also interns for the popular London literary event, Soho Reading Series.
