Late Thursday - Special Workshop: Parallel Worlds

Join us on 26 March for a late opening accompanied by a special workshop. On the last Thursday of every month during the exhibition Alessandro Mendini the Estorick Collection and Caffè Estorick will be open until 21.00.

Parallel Worlds
What if social media disappeared? What if material possessions no longer signalled status? What if products revealed their true environmental cost?

In this hands-on workshop, participants will build alternative worlds through collaborative speculation. Groups will choose a provocative scenario, map how life functions within that future, and respond to unexpected challenges that complicate their vision.

Participants will create collages representing their imagined worlds. Inspired by the Estorick’s Futurist collection, the workshop uses collective imagination and visual experimentation to rethink possible futures.

No previous experience is needed.

This workshop is designed by Shynara Nygmetova.

Shynara Nygmetova is a multidisciplinary designer and researcher pursuing dual master’s degrees at the University of the Arts London and Kyoto Institute of Technology. She explores sustainable behaviour and participatory design for responsible, community-focused alternatives. She recently co-curated 4thwall.exe, a collective exhibition examining the emotional impacts of digital life, social media, and AI, and presented her research at the London Student Sustainability Conference 2026.

The workshop starts at 18.30.
