Umberto Boccioni’s Unique Forms of Continuity in Space is one of the defining sculptures of the twentieth century, yet it is known today largely through bronze casts produced decades after the artist’s death.
To mark the Estorick Collection’s new long-term loan of a 1971–72 surmoulage cast of the work, this evening colloquium brings together two leading authorities on Boccioni’s oeuvre, Prof. Ester Coen and Dr Rosalind McKever. Each will speak about the artist’s sculpture and the questions that posthumous editions raise about originality and authorship.
A moderated discussion will follow, with the opportunity for questions from the audience.
Please note that this event replaces the previously advertised all-day symposium scheduled for 23 November.
Standard Admission £10, Estorick Collection Members £5, including a drinks reception.
Doors open at 18.00, event starts at 18.30.
