This catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition Modigliani: A Unique Artistic Voice, held at the Estorick Collection in 2015.

The Modigliani exhibition aimed to celebrate the beauty of Amedeo Modigliani’s work, and reveal the emergence of the artist’s characteristically concise and elegant vocabulary. Whilst his name is most closely associated to the bohemian worlds of Montmartre and Montparnasse, Richard Nathanson’s essay in this catalogue reminds us that Modigliani eschewed what he saw as the transient experimentalism of his peers, pursuing an ideal of beauty that he considered to be altogether more eternal.

In addition to the essay from Richard Nathanson, the catalogue includes an introduction from Roberta Cremoncini, Director of the Estorick Collection, and a selection of Modigliani’s works.
