This catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition Carlo Carrá: Works on Paper, curated by Renato Miracco and Massimo Carrá, held at the Estorick Collection between October 2001 and January 2002.

Carlo Carrá's work is a pivotal reference point in the history of twentieth century Italian culture: in his youth he was at the forefront of the first dynamic impulse of Futurism, and later engaged with the Metaphysical style and a more historicist approach.

As well as 120 Carrá drawings, this catalogue includes contributions from Massimo Carrá on the importance of drawing for the artist, and Renato Miracco on Carrá'a mural paintings and the Italian cultural climate at the beginning of the twentieth century.
