Corrado Govoni (1884-1965)
Govoni was born in Ferrara in 1884. Although principally a Symbolist and crepuscolare poet, he became interested in the Futurist movement. On moving to Milan in the first decade of the twentieth century, Govoni met Marinetti and began experimenting with Futurist forms of expression, as can be seen from his Electrical Poems (1911-14) and Rarefactions and Words in Freedom (1915). In his Futurist works, Govoni created a highly original unity of text and image. He moved to Rome in 1919 where he continued to write as well as holding various official positions. He died in Anzio in 1965.
